Haley at One by Grandma Julie

Haley at One

Haley Moore

Is my name.

Acting like a big kid

Is my game.

Play with girls

Or play with boys

Play with Stephie’s big-girl toys.

Baby toys are not for me

I may be one, but I think I’m three!

At my jokes

I laugh out loud.

My sense of humor makes me proud.

Daddy horsey rides

Make me giggle.

Change my pants and watch me wiggle.

It’s very funny to get undressed

But dropping my sippy cup is the best.

Big girl now,

Standing on my feet!

I’m a little wild but I’m so sweet!

In my walker.

Fly from room to room.

Back up fast then away I zoom.

Run really fast then lift my feet,

Bump into things, which is really neat.

I am happy

As can be

Crying is just not for me.

Smile all the time,

Hardly ever frown.

Coordinated baby, I don’t fall down.

I have control. I’m steady on my feet.

I let myself down back on my seat.

Things I see

Get a little taste.

Not to try them seems a waste.

Into the mouth

All things worth a try,

Rules about what’s edible do not apply.

Feed myself the foods I eat

Vegetables and fruits, but very little meat.

Mommy comes home

I crawl so fast,

Happy to see her home at last.

So excited

I kick my feet.

Daddy comes home, my day’s complete.

I have learned to wave bye-bye

I give hugs so sweet they will make you cry.

I will play

While in my bed,

Just don’t make me rest my head.

Training Mommy

To not sleep.

Come feed me or I start to weep.

I’m turning one, but try as I might

I just can’t seem to sleep though the night.

Nothing too far,

For my gadget arm,

Mommy and Daddy keep me from harm.

Try to grab

Everything I see.

Things beyond my reach, no challenge for me.

Rambo’s, my nickname. The fun has just begun

Now that I am turning one.

  1. Great poem Julie! I love that you referenced the "gadget arm" and her Rambo-ness. Very cute.
